The cutoff of CAT 2017 refers to the minimum marks or percentile a test taker must obtain in order to qualify for the next round of selection process. CAT cutoff 2017 has been announced by few IIM’s including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and Kozhikode among others. The other top B-schools will also release their CAT 2017 cutoff after the announcement of result. While CAT is scheduled to be conducted by IIM Lucknow on November 26, 2017, the result is awaited in the second week of January 2018. IIMs and other top B-schools announce category wise and sectional CAT cutoff 2017. Candidates must clear the sectional as well as overall CAT cutoff scores or percentile in order to get shortlisted for next round of selection process – WAT-GD/PI rounds. This article brings to you the estimated CAT 2017 cutoff of the 20 IIMs and the other top B-schools.
CAT CUTOFF 2017 – DETERMINING FACTORS
CAT 2017 cutoff will depend upon various factors. Some of the factors determining CAT cutoff can be mentioned as follows:
Difficulty level of exam
Number of test takers
Number of candidates qualifying in the exam
Number of seats
Institute repute or ranking
As per trends, if the difficulty level of CAT 2017 is high, the CAT cutoff will be low and vice versa. Generally the old IIMs and top B-schools such as FMS, University of Delhi, MDI Gurgaon etc. have CAT cutoff over 99 percentile. New IIMs and other top B-schools have cutoff ranging from 90 percentile or above. On the other hand, B-schools belonging to tier two to four can range from 80 to 50 percentile.
The following tables bring to you the previous year’s category wise and sectional cutoff for the 20 IIMs. On the basis of last year’s CAT cutoff, candidates will be able to assume cutoff for this year.
